The Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR Coupe prototype of 1955 remains one of the most mysterious and coveted Mercedes-Benz racing machines in history. Developed as an enclosed version of the open 300 SLR race car, the Coupe used the same straight-eight engine derived from the W196 Grand Prix car, producing approximately 310hp. Only two Coupe prototypes were ever built, making this a vehicle of extraordinary rarity and historical significance.
