Description

This 1/350 scale plastic model kit recreates the Imperial Japanese Navy submarine I-58, a B3 type vessel laid down at Yokosuka Navy Yard in September 1944. The real submarine carried a Type 0 small reconnaissance seaplane (E14Y1 Glen) with a catapult for launch. Its primary armament included six Type 95 torpedo tubes, three on each side of the bow, and it served as a mother ship for Kaiten human torpedoes. On July 30, 1945, the I-58 attacked and sank the USS Indianapolis with a salvo of six torpedoes. This Tamiya kit features highly detailed hull and deck parts, a display stand, and markings for the I-58.
